how to restructure the main assembly in sub-assemblies ??

Hello Everyone,

I know it's a very common question but, I'm struggling with one problem in Inventor-2015. We have a main assembly and we want to make sub-assemblies from that main assembly to make mfg. drawings without lossing its "joints & constrains".

Can anyone help me ??

Ctrl select the parts to demote to sub assembly and right click

Component>Demote

although you will get a warning that you might loose some assembly constraints - I almost never loose any.

Hello everyone,

I have attached one photograph of my assembly. Please see it.

The problem is when I'll make the assembly flexible, both the cylinder are moving simultenisously. When I want to move cyliner 2, cylinder 1 will automatic move with it(up-down) as it is flexible.

Please provide me the solution.

You need to create multiple Position Representations in the sub-assembly (see the top of the feature tree).

Hi! I am a bit confused. If cylinder1 is in one flexible subassembly and cylinder2 is in another flexible subassembly, they should move independently. Could you post the dataset here or send it to me directly (johnson.shiue@autodesk.com)?

Thanks!
