How to protect Inventor files??

I'm surprised it has only taken me 20 years to finally decide to do something about this.  

Is there a best practice for Inventor files to prevent them from being edited or deleted without authorization?  I'm thinking of something like the protection for cells and workbooks in Excel.  If you want to change it, you have to have the password.

How is this being done now???

The files itself doesn't have that kind of protection.

Tips:
You can use Vault and set permissions to edit or delete files to some users.
If your sending the models to someone, you can seva the files as a step file, or create simplified files to hide some info.

Hi Chris,

Except dwg files, all Inventor files are compressed files. I guess you may want to explore options on securing compressed files and the same process can apply to Inventor files.
