How to project geometry with a section view?

I've got a cylinder that has rounded edges. I need to put a weir inside of the cylinder (just a flat rectangular piece) that is attached to the inside of the cylinder on all three sides. It is offset from the middle of the cylinder.

So I've created a sketch on an offset workplane and I want to project the edges of the cylinder onto that sketch and then extrude the panel out.

I've attached an image of how it should look in the end. For this photo, I just eyeballed the edges and they aren't constrained to anything.

Is there maybe another way to make this feature that I'm completely missing?

Project Cut Edges.

Attach your file here if you can't figure it out.

Hi amarciniakTF6LQ,

JDMather is correct.

You can use 'Project Cut Edges' feature as below to project the model edges intersecting the sketch plane.

The result will be as below:

You shall be able to use the shape to achieve what you need.
