How to place a workpoint on midpoint of a curve/spline edge

Hello

I need to place a workpeice on a curve/spline edge of an internal face of a pipe in order to create a 2D sketch.

I can not place the workpoint. I have tried to create a rectangular pattern along the curve but I can not select an exisiting workpoint. See attacheed image.
