How to permanently assign processor affinity with single logical processor to Inventor.exe?

My Inventor is going into 'Not Responding' mode with 100% CPU utilization when run on multiple logical processers (vCPUs). This issue is not occurring when I run it on single logical processer by setting its affinity to CPU0. But every time I launch the the Inventor.exe I have to set it manually. 

How can I set the affinity permanently so that I don't have to set it manually each time? Is there any way to set it without using third party software and without creating the shortcut of Inventor.exe?

I am not aware of a method inside Inventor to control processor affinity.

I understand that processor affinity is controlled by the Operating System.  You will have to use Windows 10 features and commands to control which processor Inventor is using.  I don't think you will avoid a custom shortcut to this behavior.

The lock-up behavior you report is not expected behavior of Inventor.  I would file a support request with your reseller or Autodesk to see if there is a known issue, another solution, or something that can be patched.

I have seen Inventor consume 100% of my CPU during large FEA and complex drawing view calculations.  InvMark did a nice job of loading up my Ryzen 3600 system.  You might try it on your system.  https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-forum/invmark-by-tfi-amp-cadac-inventor-performance-hardware...

To the best of my understanding, you will have to use the Windows 10 operating system settings and configuration options to create custom shortcuts or batch files that force Inventor to run on a single core.

There are functions in Inventor that can take advantage of multiple cores. 

Setting it to only use one would hinder performance in other areas of Inventor.

• Computing multiple views with “Enable background update” option on

• Raytracing

Hi! To add to experts' comments, I am wondering why you want to restrict Inventor.exe to one CPU. Is it because your system is under-powered? Does it meet the minimum system requirement?

You may consider running Fusion 360. It supports Windows and Mac natively. Also, the system requirement may be more flexible and some of the workflows are done using cloud compute (cloud rendering and simulation)
