How to Extrude a single part into another. (Fixturing)

I have been given a task to extrude a part into another. I am trying to extrude my main piece 1.25in down into the block below. Is there a way to "extrude overlapping parts" or "cut out periphery"? I have tried direct edits and splits, but the curvature is giving me errors.

@DylanHarter I'm not really sure what you are trying to do, but you can just create a new solid and use the boolean tools (3D Model/Combine) to have a solid inside another solid.

Would this cut away the excess material after the extrusion? I'm trying to extrude the profile of this part down into the block. The end result will look like I could set the top part into the bottom part and it'd cradle it.

But it is easiest to do such things in the mold environment (core/stamp).

Unfortunately my organization is still on Inventor 2024. Does this include features specific to 2025?
