How to create a line or divide material during mold design core cavity creation

I am learning mold design with Inventor with an online video, But I encountered a problem on how to create or divide material during core cavity creation. I attached a screen short from the online video and also the screen shot from my own drawing. 

I will be happy to receive help from you guys.

Can you not create a workplace in the middle or offset to the middle ...

Use the split tool and use the workplane for the split
