How to convert part to Standard part

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi everyone,

I would like to convert a normal part to a standard part (like the library files) so that when they are represented and cut in a drawing they remain as a solid, without being cut, as happens with the parts that are inserted from the content centre.

The parts that I want to convert are screws that I have taken from the content centre but I have designed them in a file with iPart so that it is easier to insert them and also have our company code.

Thanks.

I think you are looking for following checkbox: Document Settings > Modeling > "Participate in Assembly and Drawing Sections'2021-02-08 14_15_50-Window.png

You can control section view participation in Document Settings..Modeling tab or right in the drawing itself via the right click menu on a part by part basis.

I'm really not sure what "Normal" vs" Standard" means to you.. Do you mean "normal" vs "content center" parts? A "library" part is simply a normal part saved in a designated library folder that prevents you from modifying it without permissions to write to that library location.

You can easily "Save Copy As" parts from the content center into a non-library or library folder to remove them from content center and use them just like "normal/standard?" parts.. Just save them in an appropriate folder.

Thanks for your reply but this is not working.

I checked it in another parts in which this option was selected but they are also cut in the drawing.

@mcgyvr

Standard means the parts which are in the concent center, like screws or nuts, for example.

"You can easily "Save Copy As" parts from the content center into a non-library or library folder to remove them from content center and use them just like "normal/standard?" parts.. Just save them in an appropriate folder."

This is what I did. I saved as the screw and created an iPart with all the types we use.

But when I place it in a drawing and cut it, it does, when a Standard part taken from the centre of content does not.

I only saved as the screw and created an iPart, that's why I don't understand why inventor is using it like a Normal part (designed by me).

Hope you understand my unquiry better.

Many thanks.

Did you test it in the master iPart and/or in the child part?

I modified the master part as you showed me, and then I deleted and generated all the files again.

I replaced it in the assembly, placing the master and selecting the child.

Then I reaplaced the assembly in the drawing and doesn't works.

I don't know if I'm doing something wrong 😞

Thanks @tyas.swinnen

Hi! Maybe in the drawing view, the components are set to be cut. Go to Tools -> App Options -> Drawing -> Section Standard Parts. Set it to "Never."

For existing sectioned views, you will need to right-click on the component nodes under the view node in the browser -> Section Participation -> change it accordingly.

Many thanks!
