How to convert .dwg files to .idw files (Mass Conversion)

Trying to figure out how to convert .dwg files into .idw files on a mass conversion. Wishing for a simple click and selected all and convert. If possible

Hi @vbracyH7K6G

You can use Task Scheduler to do the mass conversion.

1. Launch Task Scheduler

2. Create Task

3. Import Files

4. Select a directory

5. Change source file type (pulldown) to dwg

5. Change target file type (pulldown) to idw

6. Execute

See link below and the image attached.

Thanks

Hi @vbracyH7K6G

At the time of import via Task Scheduler you can click on the options button and specify a configuration file - something like an INI file which can either be found on your Public Documents Folder

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Autodesk\Inventor 2021\Design Data\DWG-DXF\importacad.ini

OR you can create one yourself by manually importing an ACAD file and then going through the Import Wizard and saving a configuration file.

However, I see only units can be changed. I am entirely sure you can modify the scaling.

Thanks

-shiva

Check out Fyenite in the app store. It will do this for you and also allow you to change the names of the files being converted. (if you want to)
