Guys,
I have imported structure made with frames.
How can I estimate / capture pipe lengths to add to BOM?
Bellow is example of one member. It is curved. I need to know cut length of it.

Hi!
Edit the part
Create a sketch
Create an arc between the cut points.
Mesure the arc lenght.
Something like this:
An alternative could be.. based on the middle-radius (which I assume you can reach it)..Larc = (πRn°)/180
n° = angle of the arc (degrees)
R = radius (middle)
All you can do manually it's possible to automate... but the problem is... the inputs you will need!!
In this case, how does the software know which points you want to create the plane? You will have to tell it to the software, so... the automation will take the same work as doing it manually.
@johnsonshiue
how would you capture the length of "out of plane" bent pipe in this case? Any tricks you can offer?
maybe you guys (AD) can consider to add one of the options below to IV?
- possibility to estimate virtual CL length of the curved pipe?
- possibility to unbend pipe similar to sheet metal flatten?
- possibility to automatically create construction geometry (planes/UCS) through CL based on bounding box?
Thanks

Hi! The only alternative workflow I can offer in this case is using a simple math. Get the volume from the physical iProperties. Use it to divide the cross section area. This will give you the length of the pipe. But with the special cutouts at the both ends, this approach may not work precisely.
Regarding the request, I believe I have seen it before. Please feel free to submit it to Inventor Ideas forum or vote for a similar one.
Many thanks!
