How often does your company change Inventor versions?

Does your company update to the the newest version of Inventor every year or does it have a longer upgrade cycle such as every two years, three years, etc. What reasons do you have for this update cycle? 

I'm trying to gauge the general practice for our community. We're new to Inventor and our process is still in flux.

We do it every year. With only three users, it's no big hazzle.

I have to weigh what's new in Inventor (is it worth it?) and then wait for that version to be supported in our PDM.  So it usually happens every two versions.  I have 40+ users in six zip codes.

We try to change every 2-3 years.  We use both Inventor and Vault, plus some custom applications.  We have to make sure that the custom code supports the new versions of both Inventor and Vault before we go through with the upgrade.  We have waited 4-5 years before and found that there are too many intermediate steps that must be accomplished to migrate the full stack through that many versions.  

We may be implementing Fusion Lifecycle soon.  If we do, that will be another dependency that will have to be evaluated before changing Inventor versions.

I think the last must-have feature for us that Autodesk introduced was the Plassotech FEA module that let us run FEA on assemblies.  There have been several incremental performance improvements too.

We upgrade with every new version but wait for a while after release & watch the forums to let others find the bugs. We skipped 2018 altogether because it seemed to have a lot of problems.

We normally upgrade every year. Skipped 2019 for no reason other than I manage everything for installs and no one bugged me about it. I wait until around fall or so after the first major fix is released. We just implemented Vault so that'll be a new thing to consider. Also still on 2020 and might upgrade after the new year, even though 2022 should be out around march.

I install new version beside old one so I can test it.

Then decide if other can upgrade when they have time.
