How is automatic wire routing calculated?

I hope someone can answer this question.

  • How is the wire and harness automatic routing calculated in inventor? Is it based on regular splines? I that case, how is the min bend radius calculated? As far as I know it's difficult to set/check  radiuses on splines. Or am I missing something? Interested because Fusion 360 ,that I use every day , don't have this functionality, but Fusion has a nice open API, so maybe its possible to write a code for a simple version.

Hi,

In Inventor cable and harness environment, you can set the default bend radius for wires or cables. You can also check the routing radius manually after bending.

Yes I know this. But what I am interested in is how the bend radius is calculated "behind the scenes". Like in the programming side of it.
Jut don't quite get how the radius of a spline is calculated
