How do I reset assembly modeling view component numbers

Anonymous
Not applicable

I put together an assembly a while back and I have since then added and removed certain parts.

Example: I have a certain part called A. If I insert the A part 10 seperate times then in the assembly I have parts

A:1, A:2, A:3, A:4, A:5, A:6, A:7, A:8, A:9, A:10.

If I delete A:4 and A:6 for some reason then place two more A part into my assembly then I now have parts

A:1, A:2, A:3, A:5 A:7, A:8, A:9, A:10, A:11, A:12.

I know that I can manually change the numbers to get them in order. But if I add another part then it will be called A:13. Since I deleted A:4 and A:6 I no longer have parts by those names in my assembly. I want to be able to somehow reset the numbers automattically and put them all in order. I hope this all makes sense.

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

In the ribbon, under assemble tab, under productivity find "rename browser nodes".

Select "filename" and then apply.

It will reset the numbers.

Thank you, Frank. However, it does not function exactly how I'm looking for.

This is how my tree looks right now.

Default.PNG

As you can see there is multiple parts and each part starts as "1" and and will increase with every same part that I add to the assembly.

This is what the tree looks like when I use the rename browser nodes feature and set it to "File Name."

File Name.PNG

I want each individual part (A,A2,B,WC, etc..) to start with 1 and then increase by one with every additional part of the same name (A,A2,B,WC, etc..).

Any advice for that?

Thank you,

SethL

This A:33

should be called A:5, not A:33.

You would need to manually renumber them.. (or maybe use ilogic to rename them)

But why? Unless you have a very specific reason don't waste your time on that..
