How do I get iParts to save to a specific folder?

I've been trying to find how to get my iParts to save into a folder within a project or database.  So far I've found proxy paths and setting up libraries that don't show.  The more I read the more confusing it gets.  I try to set up a proxy path and get an error.  No clue what's happening.  I just want my iparts to go into a different folder than the workspace.  I'm not looking for anything complicated, just a reasonably clear workspace.  All the nuanced bit can come after I can just have my parts not clogging up my workspace.  Why is this such a pain?

iPart members are stored by default under a sub-folder (named the iPart Factory) in the located where the iPart factory resides.  A registry hack can be done to store the iPart members in the same folder as the iPart factory.  Proxy path configuration in your active project file can be created to store all iPart members in given location under a sub-folder named for the iPart factory.

Hi! iPart factory and members should be clearly defined and stored in a library folder. So that multiple projects can leverage it. You could certainly create project specific iParts. But, I would try to make them library content. In this way, you don't edit them unnecessarily.
