Hi , new to Autodesk. If I place 4 squares in an assembly, how can I combine them to make it so if it was dragged by free move, all 4 cubes would move?

Assemble tab >> Relationships >> Constrain / Joint / Assemble ... Depends on how you want them to behave: glued one to another or fixed distance - constrain, more live motion along a path for example - joint.

Hope that helped. Good Luck!

Hi,

Welcome to Inventor forum!

It's better to add relations between each other with command constraint, Joint or assemble, or you can select them all, Right click mouse to select the Demote command from context menu\component\demote to make a sub-assembly and then you can move them all as an component.

Hope it helps.

constraints..

I highly suggest some training..

Either follow through all the tutorials or find some on youtube or if you are doing this professionally (your job) then you should attend a training class (2 day minimum)..

What you are asking is the absolute basics and yes you are new but this forum isn't a replacement for proper training..

Attach your assembly here and someone will demonstrate.

In general I would say, "How would it be done in the real world?  That is how to do it in Inventor."

Greetings @Anonymous I see that you are visiting as a new member to the Inventor Forum.
Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

Are you a student or professional getting involved with using Inventor?

Here is a very brief example using constraints. Have you gone through the tutorials built in with the product?

In a typical assembly you want your base part grounded and all other parts to be constrained in relation to it.
