How can i remove extrusion

Hello,

i would like to keep the sculpt but i have to remove the extrusions so i can mirror the sculpt. But if i remove the extrusions sculp is gone.

What am i doing wrong or missing to do. 

Can anybody help please.

Oh, goodness. I've been thinking only about a Joystick ..

As Mike pointed out, Freeform seems to be the best way. I've done a first approach for a basic grid, that can be pulled up for getting the best shape.

But IMO, it's not really easy. I've seen issues in my file (2016). I can't delete the edge in red circle, and FF edits are only accepted by intermediate savings.

That's only a start-up, which needs to be pulled up subsequently in z direction.

But Freeform will lead you to the most pleasing shapes ..

I don't know why the above double posting appeared, and I couldn't delete it.

Can you tell me please how can i do freeform based on the shape and ....how can i see the dimensions of pulling and dragging.

As the item should be strictly done by dimensions.

I've seen your sketch named Mere; and I don't know it's purpose.

I've made the Freeform grid using the Shape sketch.

Freeform is tricky. An experienced user can get amazing results. Other ones can risk to loose their hair ..

Mere means measures in my language 😉

Shape sketch is made out of "mere" sketch.

And yes, i spend some time with freeform and..... i did chop some of my hair out ... lol

it looks good.

So how is it possible to freeform out of shape? I just can't do it 😞

And just want you to know that i would also like to learn how can i do it by myself so if you can maybe make a video like before?

It would be in great help please.

The tutorials are helpful but i prefer to learn with talks and advices and practice

Ok, it looks like nothing from freeform, can you at least tell please me how to mirror the sculpt as we talk before?
