How can I make assembly pattern elements independent afterwards (Autodesk Inventor Professional)

Hello everyone,

i have a problem using the pattern tool. I want to make an assembly of the same rectangulars with same lengths. And afterwards I want to remove unnecessary ones... So I start to make patterns clicking the Associative button. So I can change all sizes at ones.. and then I want to remove not necessary rectangulars, but I don't know how to make them independent.

My Work Browser shows not the pattern information unfortunaly.

Can anybody help me?

If you expand the model browser component pattern, there should be a list of elements. if you right-click on an element you can choose to suppress or make independent.

Hello blandb,

thank you so much for your fast reply! That's exactly my problem. I can't see the Component Pattern in my browser. There is only the feature "Sketch" and no further information.
Do I have to be in the 3D view for this? Maybe that is my problem.

Hi! It is because your pattern is a feature pattern not a component pattern. In feature pattern, there isn't an independent workflow.

I suspect you are looking for a more flexible design environment where geometry and component definitions are optional. Also pattern can apply to features, bodies, and components. You may want to look into Fusion 360.

Many thanks!

Try it on another element.  The first one is the one from which the pattern is made, the one upon which all the other components are dependent.  If you make it independent, then the others-- what? Cease to exist?
