Is there a good way to make a section view in one view? I've been taking a base view then using crop and break-out on it. Is there an easier way?

I have people checking my drawings who want me to move the section view line from one view to another. Or ask me to make section views of section views, which can case update and graphic problems. It's worth it for me to make a section view that is not tied to another view.

You can simply sketch the arrows or create a sketch symbol in your drawing resources if you want to use it repeatedly.

That's half of it. I'm more asking about making the stand-alone "Section View".

There is no such thing as a standalone section view. A section must have its own definition.

So when section view arrow's need to be moved from one view or even sheet to another, is there a way to make the original arrows invisible? Or maybe actually move them to a similar view? (Example - from a top view to a side view) Or do I just have to re-make the section view and all the associated annotations for it?

Trying to avoid that and the problems from making a partial section of a partial section of a section is why I'm asking about easily converting a base view into something that can look like a section view instead.

@SMillsYS3X2, original arrows can be hidden by editing the section view, go to the Display Options tab, and uncheck Definition in Base View.

Not sure if this will be helpful or not but if I had to do just a section view, I would simply drag the base view off the sheet and leave the section view to stand alone.  If it's not on the sheet, it will not print/plot or pdf/dwf.  Maybe you're in an environment where non-engineering users have idw viewer, I don't have that so I don't know if the off-sheet views would show up.

That is a solution. I just think it's bad practice to have stuff off the drawing view that isn't really used, may be easily missed, and cause confusion when others do see it. I've even known that stuff to be accidently printed.

Ok, but that's a user training / OCD issue.  I think your only other solution, while following your rule of not having anything outside the sheet area, would be to apply your view, enclose the section view cut surface in a closed sketch and then hatch that area.  It's goofy, but it will adjust as the model is changed.  Unless the change is drastic, which will leave you with a broken/disassociated view.  It works but I don't think it's a good option.
