What i am currently doing is downloading things i am looking to print using a 3d printer. I want to edit the structure of these objects for a more personalized result. I am currently downloading something like this:http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:268940 and opening it in Autodesk inventor. I then convert it to a base object using the mesh enabler app, and attempt to edit the object, like engraving a name in the iphone case i linked. However, no matter what i try, i can only create new material through extrusion, the cut option is always blocked. When i make a work plane and attempt to cut through the object from that, cut is also blocked, or i get the error message that says nothing has been changed. I think that i am missing something, since it appears inventor is not accepting the feature as an actual object, but i cant figure out how to change that.
