Home screen 2024 not working like 2022.

When the new home screen was released for 2023, I stopped using it.  With every update, I had hope that it was put back like V 2022.  I was still hopeful when 2024 was released.

Is there any hope of that returning?

Thanks @sundars !

Not sure why I didn't think of that.  Not only did I have poor aim - I also had a brain lapse.  🙄  I appreciate your help.

Hah. No worries @iamerm - sometimes the obvious is right in our faces, but we miss it. Glad that workaround helps. Sorry for the inconvenience about not being able to close the home screen.

Besides the new home screen replacing functional features with clean whitespace, and generally being slow to load, this is something else that it can do that pre-v2023 didn't do:

This page is having a problem

Try coming back to it later.

Error code: Out of Memory

Windows has 12GB free.

Inventor is using 1GB.

Clicking "Refresh" did eventually reload the page.

@sundars

Was this issue ever solved?

Just updated to 2024 here and several users see exactly this issue (out of menmory). Is there a solution other than disabling Home?

Hello @torbjorn_heglum1

We have not been able to reproduce the Out of Memory issue. We have one open issue where the Page comes up blank after closing several files. That workflow seems different from what you may be seeing.

Would you happen to have consistent steps to reproduce?

Also, if you can please update to the latest DOT release of 2024 (if you haven't already done so).

Thanks and unfortunately it's late today, I will follow up with our QA folks tomorrow to see if there is any update and keep you posted.

Thanks

@sundars

Hello Shiva,  This is still happening to me and I do always update to the latest release.  I can not purposefully duplicate the error.  At this point I have to assume that it's an issue with my PC.

The company (some 30 licences) updated to 2024.2 about a week ago. Some users have reported this error. One of them can provoke it by starting a fresh inventor - home is ok - open a particular drawing - home get out of memory.

This is in Thumbnail view, do not happen in List view as far as I know.

Hello All,

I am discussing this issue internally. It looks like our QA engineer was able to reproduce one single time when too many files were opened. After that instance, she has not been able to reproduce it.

So, maybe, you could try reducing the maximum number of recent documents in Home.

sundars_0-1702668119638.png

To do that

1. Application options

2. General Tab
3. Bottom right corner should show you the "Maximum number of recent documents"
4. Keep it around 25 or so

See if that makes a difference.

Other things to try

1. Use List view instead of thumbnail view

The bottom line is that I think this problem can happen randomly because the webview component may be running out of memory. It's been reported on the internet with other applications using microsoft webview2 component.

As always, we will continue to keep an eye out for this issue, causes and solutions.

Thanks

-shiva
