Home screen 2024 not working like 2022.

When the new home screen was released for 2023, I stopped using it.  With every update, I had hope that it was put back like V 2022.  I was still hopeful when 2024 was released.

Is there any hope of that returning?

Hi!

I believe not.

It will be enhanced over time, mostly based in the users feedback, so, you can help to evolve the feature with your opinion.

Thanks, my opinion is that it should "de-volve" back to 2022. 😁

It actually doesn't "...do exactly same thing as old versions".  Shortcuts have been removed. If it's there and the functionality has changed, please explain.

Thanks 👍

I'm not working like I was in 2022 either 😉

I did use Shortcut for a while but the UI not really layout properly.

Would be nice if it works like File Explorer.

So I just use that.

This is also some new behavior. Clicking refresh fixes it, but just something new to note.

Hi @Frederick_Law  @chuck.bardsley Haven't seen this one before. Do you post an image of your Home (the one which works?). Are you using any special vault property columns and are they displayed?

If you have any vault property columns displayed, can you remove them and try it again?

Thanks

LOL> Thanks for the free credit.

Lets try to rule out some suspects

1. Switch to list view to see if the problem goes away? Maybe thumbnails are hogging the memory

2. Log out of vault? Maybe we are not handling vault data from the server correctly or data is too much to handle.

3. Try reducing the number of files listed (AppOptions + General + Max number of recents)

Thanks

@sundars ,

1. Switch to list view to see if the problem goes away? Maybe thumbnails are hogging the memory

I prefer to stay on thumbnail view

2. Log out of vault? Maybe we are not handling vault data from the server correctly or data is too much to handle.

I restarted the system, got a new error message after being away from my workstation for a few hours

3. Try reducing the number of files listed (AppOptions + General + Max number of recents)

I prefer to have what's shown, which I assume is the default.

I have to admit. This is new. We have not seen it before. I am afraid, we need steps to reproduce. Thinking off the top of my head......Do you have any dataset listed in your recents which you think might cause this issue? You could narrow it down, by first clearing out all your recents, then slowly start opening models one by one. and observe. The last file which you opened causes this may be the culprit (underline maybe). Then we could potentially investigate the dataset if you can share it with us.

I'll give that a try and if I have any success, I'll let you know.

Do other programs perform the same way?  When I see your screenshot, it makes me think that your screen resolution is set to a ratio that doesn't match your monitor resolution.

Try going to Display settings and change to the recommended setting.

No. this is the only program that behave like this. I have however found out that if I change the scaling of the screen to 105% or higher I get an fullscreen. That on the other hand evoke another problem. If I use custom setting for my screen it will take over both the 30" (which is giving the problem) and the small laptop screen. And then my old eyes have problem reading the laptop. so I will probably have the 30" on 125% and the lap on 175 as usual.

So IV have problem on the 30"?

Set 30" as Primary Display.
