Hole Table Linked To Multiple Views?

Anonymous
Not applicable

2014 Prof.

1. One ipt w/ holes on two different sides, View 1 & View 2. Can one table be created counting holes for the entire ipt (or in other words, both views) w/ sequential alpha/numerical tags? All Hole Table options require a view selection.

1a. If no, is it possible to have alpha / numerical tags crossing over from table 1 to table 2 w/o manual entry?

2. I have both inch and mm for each dimension and feature shown in my idw, except the hole table Description column. Is it possible to have dual dimensions shown at this location?

J.

I'm doing templates and need to move past this.

Is this issue and/or version an old shoe that nobody wants to pick up and put on anymore?

Hi! The quick answer is no. Hole Table is view specific. It is because you need a common origin point based on the view in order to define the X and Y offsets.

Many thanks!

Brain fart on my end, sorry.

What about question 2?

Related, have most Inventor users moved on from 2014?

Hello @Anonymous good question, check out this article and maybe vote up the idea.

Hole Table

Depending on what your design intent is, the 2014 release may be all you need at the moment. Every year features are improved and added. Take a look at this year's release and see if it is something that you want to move towards.

You can do that in Style Manager.

Yes, I know about the Alt X and Y columns and use them. But the 'Description' column's 'Type' is 'Text' not 'Numeric'. This gray's out the Unit Formatting. If anyone knows how to change the Column Format Type from Text to Numerical, let me know? Do I create a new column? How is the Column's Type controlled?

Wow, so I already asked this question two months ago!?

The solution sounded like having to edit each created Hole Table, but I don't care for manual workarounds when an automated setting is so close in reach!

I did see the Hole Table idea while searching out this issue and have already voted it up. What success rate to these ideas have?

Thanks for the tips, and we are planning to upgrade our version in Q1 next year. Don't know which version we will upgrade to yet.

@Anonymous I don't really have a good answer as to the success rate, but I have seen ideas with minimal votes be accepted and implemented.

Depending on how difficult it is to implement would be the key factor and then the number of votes would drive the importance up.

All it takes is the idea to be posted and it is then known by the development team. They are listening and trying to make helpful changes to the program.
