So, this all started in 2005... has Autodesk come up w/ a simple solution to this very obvious problem yet, or is 13 years too aggressive a timeline to expect to see this hashed out?
Hi Michael,
This is a very old thread. You may want to start a new thread. In terms of "obvious problem", could you elaborate a bit? Is it about the fact that no mixed tolerance styles can be displayed or the tolerance cannot be selectively annotated?
Many thanks!
The problem is that you can't specify, say, a .250 dia hole (with a "titleblock tolerance" of ±.010) with a 3/4" ("titleblock tolerance" of ±1/32) depth, without like 12 mouse clicks and manually entering one of the tolerances.
Another example, you can't spec a 3/4" clearance counterbore with a .250 thru alignment hole without:
The point of boiler-plate tolerances is to reduce your work. This is a super common situation, with multiple applications, and rather than see more "state of the art" features I have no application for, I'd love to see an efficient hole note.
Hi Michael,
I think I understand it now. It is about the mixed format of tolerance and dimension (fraction and decimal). I could wrong but I have not heard similar request often. Please bear with me. Does it comply drawing standard?
Many thanks!
Michael,
The workflow that you described is how we do it today. Its a pain, I know. You will wear out the left button on a good mouse. If the format that you describe is common for you, you may could create that style and save it back to your standards library.
It would be nice if the "Copy Properties" tool (like on linear dimensions) worked on hole notes as well. That could save some time.
WOW, has it really been 13 years!!
