Hide annotations from derived part.

i created a derived part that has annotations. then created annotations in the derived part. the issue is that all of the annotation come with the derived part and you can't turn them off. when you go to dimension it all the annotated dimensions come in even if you can't see them on the derived part. i made sure to hide all annotation in the base part and used the correct view.

I created a test (2026) and when I place the view, I can right click on the view and choose to retrieve model annotations. I can then pick and choose which ones I want to display and only those will appear.

Thanks for checking in on this. the normal annotation work well but when you have annotations on a part then create a derived part from that and put more annotation on the new part. then the original annotation show up in the drawing along side the new annotations. as you see in the photos i only have 3 dimension in the derived part but all of the annotation from the original part show up.

In the attached video, I show that I have the original "BOX" with MBD's. I then have the derived box with an MDB that I had already placed on it, but added another just to show.

I then add the view to a drawing and choose. Are you choosing to retrieve all model annotations on placement?

 

I don't use the MBDs so I am not as familiar with them.

Hi! This behavior was meant to help annotating iPart members (derived parts of the iPart factory). Indeed the hole spec is propagated from the source part to the derived part. I am not aware of an option toe disable the propagation.

There is an awkward workflow to achieve the goal. First, in the derived part, use Thicken/Offset command to create a zero-distance offset surface by selecting the hole faces. After that, use Delete Face (Heal option on) to remove the threaded hole. Lastly use the offset surface to recreate the non-spec hole.
