Hemming of curved metal sheet

I need to trim the edges of a sheet metal part that is on a curve. When I go to the flat pattern command I can only put a sketch on the flat and not on the curved part. I will attach the part and a pdf of what I want it to look like.

It sounds like you should be going into Unfold command rather than Flat Pattern command.

But my preference is to Project Flat Pattern (sort of does the same thing) and then Cut Across Bend.

Thanks, I was getting really frustrated. I knew what I wanted to do but thanks to you I can get it done.
