Hey All,
I'm having trouble linking normal parameters to my custom iproperties. Is there a way it can be done or do I have to use iLogic?
It's not clear what you are trying to do...
Are you creating a custom iProperty and then wanting to pass its value to a standard iProperty?
If yes, in the standard iProperty, just enter =<custom_iProperty_name>
If you are going the other way (standard iProperty to custom iProperty), enter the standard iProperty name as the value for the custom iProperty:
My main goal is to populate custom iproperties I've created with parameters that are automatically generated when you create a part or assy
Hi rdiamond113,
You can export a Parameter as a custom iProperty using the checkbox shown here:
This might be all you need to do since a new custom iProperty (called Pawl_Length in my example) is created. But if you still want to reference the exported Parameter into a new custom iProperty you can do it by adding an expression as pcrawley mentioned. Once you type in the expression click Add/Modify, then Apply:
To edit the expression right click and choose Edit Expression as shown:
I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis
