Help - White Screen

Inventor LT 2011

Dell Precision T5400

Intel Xeon Quad Core 2.66GHz

8GB ram

Windows 7

 

Can someone tell me the typical reason for a white screen to appear when building and rebuilding a model? I'm not attempting complicated functions and my machine is better than average.
