Having issues seperating objects in inventor

I'm working with a previously made part and want to seperate out the ends of them in inventor so that I can modify the space between them, is there an easy way to do this. They are currently one shared surface body.

Hi,

Would be easier if you upload an example, but the following might work for you.

Option1: Save a copy of the file, delete one end, repeat for the other end and combine them in a assembly.

Option 2:

Use sculpt to convert the surface model to a solid model, do this 2 times so you end up with 2 solids, then use direct edit to increase the spacing.
