Hi

Been AFK.

I think I understand, I have to create a little distance between dimensions and columns, takes a little finessing to get it all to work. Backwards and forward between sketch and drawing.

As for symbols loosing snap points, sometimes it can be something simple like accidentally snapping to the view instead. Reconnecting them can be painful, and is sometimes quicker to make a new one. I hate it when they develop a leader, and you can never get them to work again, so a re-insert is the best.

Depending on the scenario, I sometimes edit the active symbol before deleting it, this makes the re-insert automatically select the "old" symbols settings. A small time saver.

Hi Reg,

Yeah, lotta work-arounds. Gotta luvit!

Never knew that one, thanx!

I just tried your method using a 3dSketch + Symbol, and it works good, even on an ISO view.

If I ever do this kind of project again, I'll try your method.

I am in the same boat, I only use grid lines about once a year, I had to look long and hard to find examples for the screen captures.

I do however use symbols in my drawing every day.

The only symbols that are manually placed, i.e eyeballed and manually dragged around the screen when the view changes or is moved, are the section marks which are attached to the view labels. There is no way to snap them to anything. Everything else snaps to something or other. (Still placed, but at least they move with the views and any updates, this requires checking, but it's not too painful, view labels on the other hand are a PITA)

Hi

Have you tried the "symbol clipping option" this will "show or hide" the information around the placed symbol.

I hear ya.

Lotta work-arounds.

Oh well!

Autodesk doesn't give a rat's arse, so what can we do?
Cuss them out under our breath and try to not miss anything that'll but us in the rear, right?

Thanx to your tip, now I can add a simple 3d sketch w/Projected lines to use in ISO views.

I never even thought to use 'symbol clipping' and never even noticed it!

Just tried it in ORTHO & ISO views.

Worked in ORTHO view but not ISO view.

Does it work in your version in ISO view?
