I would go for the cheapest one, as it is the CPU that is most crucial. Invest the saved money in a faster CPU.

If the pc is only for professional work, i suggest an workstation. NVidia quadro series works in a different system (Open GL) them game cards (direct x). These pc's are more stable, robust, and last longer,,, and they are way more expensive.

If it's for your personal use... t you want to play games, multimedia and some CAD, it's better the gaming PC. (Any recent RTX will work).

You don't need to buy the most expensive unless you have the money available and you want to have the most recent (sometimes not the best).
The important is:

  • sd disk
  • 64Gb ram (or more)(32 will work)
  • Graphic card Nvidia (not other brand in my experience)
  • Good processor

Nothing has changed with Inventor and SW since 2 decades.

Search through the forums to find lengthy discussions on this topic.

When your mind is 'filled up' with knowledge, then you can make a good decision.

It may take you a day of reading to learn what you need to know.

If you can find those, check what is closest to each setup here:

First: both works with OpenGL and Direct X.

Second: IV had switched to Direct X for a long time.

IV (and other CAD) had so much problem with Open GL AutoDesk recoded it to use DX.

Way more stable since then.

Quadro uses OpenGl from hardware and directx with software emulation.
...and Geforce is the opposite.

I was referring to CAD systems, in general (several programs, not only Inventor), but i have to agree that nowadays inventor works well (maybe better)  using directx.

Anyway, maybe a workstation is not even faster than a gaming pc, but has a stable behavior, and for me, that's important not to lose work because PC is shutting down when doing exigent tasks.

Do you have a source for that information?

Just for my personal enlightenment 😉

Love the days when I can mod a GeForce to Quadro.

How did you do that?

https://3dstudiouk.wordpress.com/2012/06/11/nvidia-geforce-to-quadro-soft-mod/

Some can be Soft Mod. Change hardware ID so driver think it's a Quadro.

Some need Hard Mod. Resolder a few resistors to change HW Id. Flash Quadro BIOS.

I had a few soft and hard mod cards.

A Quadro with TV tuner 😜

So technically, there is nothing physically prevent GeForce from working as Quadro.

Back then, a real Quadro can open more IV windows than a modded one.

You might caught news about fake RTX or Quadro with just a BIOS flash.

With current GPU using multiple CUDA cores, the different is even less or non.

It's all in BIOS and driver.

Thanx for the info, I'll check it out.

I used Quatro cards in the past, but they got way too expensive so I went to GeForce.

But the GeForce has problems, so I want to go back to Quatro, but can't afford it.

Maybe this is a possible remedy?

What kind of problem? Crash? Graphic? Performance?

I used IV and SW on my laptop with Intel Graphic.

I set graphic setting to performance. Even when I have RTX or Quadro.

Using P1000 at work now.

Most company IT will buy low end Quadro because it's "recommanded".

It's a desktop workstation.

It doesn't show the views as good as the Quatro.

They 'orbiting is 'jerky' when the model is large.

Part sketch dimension text has a large gap on both sides of the dimension and dimension lines.

But that disappears and it works as expected when I activate the sketch.

So I learned to live with it.

Hi Team,

Thanks for your advise.

What is difference between NVDIA T500 vs NVDIA Geforce RTX 3050?

Which good for 3D CAD modelling?

Thanks
