I want to generate a punch tool and it's giving me a lot of headache on how to generate it in such a way that I can use it on various orientations. Somehow I seem to mess up some reference geometry and the tool later tries to reorient on that. What happens is the following:
I want something like this (original part which I export via Manage -> Extract iFeature
Which often works fine on some faces:
But beware if you change the face from YZ to XY orientation: then, suddenly depending on the the orientation of the punch relative to the face (i.e., on which side you place the sketch with the point that I use to locate the punch on the face) it generates this mess:
Creating the iFeature was done with these selections:
I added the required files to this post. What do I do wrong? I would like to have the punch in such a way that it always works, independent of the orientation of the face relative to the coordinate system as well as the direction of extrusion of the face, etc.
Edit: I tired to attach the *.ide File I generated with the settings above too, but for some reason this page doesn't allow me to do that because "the file extension does not match the file type". What does that mean?
