Friday Morning Fun Question - Rankings

Been wanting to ask this for a while, being an overcast, damp Friday morning (in the Pacific Northwest, imagine that), I figured what better time?

I've been wondering about the semi-new ranking system we see on these discussion boards. Maybe I should have done a search for the original explanation post, if there was one. I understand the thought behind it, obviously giving the much deserved recognition to those who earn it. So I'm wondering how the rankings are calculated.

I'm going to assume these things are all factors in some way:

  1. number of posts
  2. date joined?
  3. number of resolutions you earn
  4. number of "kudos" you get

Anything else? What is the point factor for these and why not have a legend that explains these?

Obviously it's not just the number of posts you log as proven below:

Carry on......is it 3:30pm yet?

afaik.. the "title" under your user name is based solely on # of posts..

I actually got a thank you email from Autodesk shortly after they started it because I was the first to change "ranks" after they implemented that system.

Pacific Northwest?  I never would have guessed it.  With the name "Celtic" in it I would have guess from the Boston area.  Anyway, here in the North east it is sunny and warm.

I am glad you asked this question because since joining last December I was wondering how this worked.

I know in the Solidworks forum everything is based on points.  one point for a posting and 4 points for a correct answer.

The rankings are based on point totals.

Here, I have yet to figure it out.  I have to disagree that the number of posts changes things.  While I am just a "Valued Contributor" there are those that are "Mentors" with far less postings then me.  So I figure it has to do with the number of kudos one receives.  Have yet to see how the correct answer factors in.

Cadmanto,

I'm from the Baaahston area originally if that helps? Only out here for contract and would LOVE to get back to God's country (actually making the pilgrimage to Fenway in June to celebrate it's 100th).

Yeah, total posts can't be the only factor as I've shown in the examples I included.

jletcher....LOL.....been there, done that. If it was solely based on when one signed up....I'd be a 5 star Sage like JD.
