Frame Generator Stock Number

I think there's something wrong with our configuration of Frame Generator but I'm not sure what/how to fix it. Content center parts all come in with the correct 'stock number' which is our part number for the raw material of that extrusion. But frame generator seems to ignore the material used and generally just makes up its own stock number. I can't tell if it's due to references being really old or if it was just never set up. At the moment I'm not sure how to/where to point frame generator to our content center options. Right now it seems to use only the stock numbers for carbon steel and even those it sometimes makes up/ignores the content center equivalent. Changing material to Stainless 304, for instance, doesn't cause it to change the stock number to what we have in content center for that extrusion in 304. I guess first of all, can it be made to do that or is this 'normal' behavior?

Hi! The FG behavior you describe here does not sound right to me. If possible, please share the files here. I would like to understand the stock number propagation better.

Many thanks!

that's part of it- I don't know what files it's using or where any of it is located. So even once I do get the issue resolved, I'm not sure how to propagate that to the other machines here.

I did some additional testing yesterday and I was able to get it to use the part number for stainless tube once. But then adding another member, regardless of what it was made from, was locked to the same part number. So at least somewhere it IS able to figure out a match, but it works sporadically? Same issue when I made the part aluminum. Initially the stock number was correct, but then it just locked to that number for everything.

Hello @CanIGetaWellYeah,

Thanks for the update.

To help investigate this further, could you please share a bit more information?

  • Autodesk product and version
  • Steps to reproduce the issue
  • Issue related Screenshots

The community is looking forward to hearing back.
