Frame Generator: Resizing frame members loosing all modeling works

Hi,

I have a frame made out of round steel tubes. The thickness is 8 mm and it has to be changed to 10 mm.

In the tube are some holes and cut-outs. Now, when I modify the frame member by "edit with frame generator" all my modelling works are gone because FG is replacing the part with a complete new part.

Any ideas /solutions ?

I just tested this in IV 2023 with a hole added at the Part level, and another hole added at the Assembly level.  I then changed the size of the tube (wall thickness), and generated a new part.  Both holes were still present.  Are you seeing different results?

@CGBenner ,

Good to know. Indeed I'm seeing different results. None of my holes and cut-outs are present anymore.

Did you changed the thickness /size with this menu ?:

Or on the parameters ?

I used "Edit with Frame Generator" after selecting the tube and Right Mouse clicking.  In my image below you cannot see the tube I selected because the pop up menu covered it.

@CGBenner ,

I will make a test file and let you know. To be continued...

@CGBenner ,

I made a test file and it worked like you said. My mistake was the following:

When editing the frame member I also modified the family (same catogory) and that doesn't work.

So for now I leave the family alone (unfortantly) and just modify the thickness.

Thanks for your help!

I found the same as you when changing the family.  It's too bad that doesn't work the same way.  Maybe this is an enhancement request?  I'm glad this worked for you, at least a little....  Have a great weekend.
