Frame generator part numbering - same item has different P/n's

Hey guys,

Tried searching and couldnt find the right answer. It may be the 3 hours sleep Ive had.

Anyway Im currently designing a car trailer and am using the same length of RHS multiple times. Frame generator wants to give each peice a different part number which will make my BOM unnecessarily huge.

Is there a way to change all peices to the same part number so I have a quantity and one part number in my BOM? I have a feeling its worked for me before but for the life of me I cant remember how. Other problem is that the same beam runs down the beaver tail/dovetail so although its the same peice it runs rotated 10 degrees to the other so I cant select all peices in one go.

Any help would be great.

Thanks guys

HI brad91,

First you better take a nap. Smiley Wink

Then see this link for one common approach to this. Basically just let Inventor name the parts, then use the BOM editor to set the part numbers:

I don't follow this. If you still need help with this part can you post more details, screen shots, etc?

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis

Use the "Reuse" button within the Frame Gen application. This will reuse the member, you will need to do this for all the items that are the same as the first instance.

The icon looks like a cross section of two "I-Beams", one grey and one blue.

Thanks guys!

The reuse command seems to work. Just adds a number after each one which is fine by me.

Will give it a try!
