fractional notation for driven dimensions

Hi

It looks like you can enter driving dimensions as 7/16. But it seems driven dimension

only display as .4375. Is this true or is there a option to change this condition to fractional.

I maybe wrong but Solidwork can display driving and driven dims as fractions.

Hi bgolash,

Where do you want to display the dimension as a fraction? In the model sketch, in the 2d drawing? Other?

In looking at the driven dimension part of this, I'm assuming you've change the Default Parameter Input Display setting as described here:

http://help.autodesk.com/view/INVNTOR/2015/ENU/?guid=GUID-823253D9-FFC6-4708-9F37-207883ECA597

I'm now seeing what you're describing, where Display as expression displays as a decimal even if input as a fraction, but I don't know of a way change this behavior.

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis

I always love it when people say "Well solidworks can..."

So what? Its a different program from a different company..

My Jeep leaves the radio on until I open the doors (or 45 seconds when I don't have the doors on at all) after shutting off the car.. My wifes Sorento doesn't do that..

So what? Its a different program from a different company. Maybe that means that there was a demand for it.

Maybe Autodesk is too lazy to change the code.

In case you didn't see that Curtis updated his post..

There doesn't seem to be a way to force driven dimensions to display in fractional like the normal dimension..

If you would like to add this functionality to Inventor then please submit your request to the ideastation for investigation.
