Flat pattern from constructed shell (can't create flat pattern)

Hi, everyone i hope you are having a great day.

I've been struggling with a small problem (i hope) within Inventor.

I created a figured and made it my shell to create sides for it.

- This is to make pieces of plate for weld use later.

I want to create a flat pattern in order to "export face as" for a .dxf file

However i can't seem to make a flat pattern, hope you guys can help.

Well... there's some bit that inventor didn't like in your surface, so i had to create it again...

Ok, so i guess i created it in some wrong way.

Hi Jacob,

Another way is to use Mesh Mixer to unwrap converted mesh faces. Here is the workflow.

Ill try this method once i get home to my own machine.

Never tried meshmixer but looking forward to it.

@CCarreiras I would like to know, the process you went through?

It looks like you made a new square piece of plate, and then inserted the measures of mine. 

Then recreated the fold over the middle, but i can't tell what the "splits" are for?

Well.... I created first a kind of a simple rectangular bended shape.

After i checked that shape could flatten, i did split and cut the rectangle to obtain your specific shape.
