Pattern with Shell

I have made a pipe run as an .ipt file

1. Can a pattern be used which includes the Shell feature. I was not able to achieve with Pattern-1 as i could not select Shell feature?

or

2. I could pattern Revolution-1 and then follow with the Shell feature, then add Revolution-2 onto Revolution-1, then pattern Revolution-2

Are there other ways of creating Revolution-1, Shell And Revolution-2 and then pattern along Sweep-1 or do i need to use #2 above?

Thank you and 2018 attached

Zac

Hello,

You could make Revolution 1 a new solid, with Revolution 2 and the shell part of that solid.

Then when you pattern the solid, which will be Revolution 1, will take the shell with it. And Revolution 2.

Then if you need it to only be 1 solid again, combine them together.

I attached your file so you can see what i mean.

Hope this helps?

Thomas.

Thank you

The only problem with performing this way is that it leaves parts of the pipes inside the other pipe

Hello,

Sorry about that.

Another way you can do it is.

Just offset from the edges you wanted to shell, .1mm, or whatever thickness you wanted to shell.

And extrude cut, and sweep cut. Because you can pattern extrude cut.

Then do the sweep cut after.

I have attached a part with what i have done.

Thomas.

Hi! Indeed, Shell is not patternable by itself. It is because it has to depend on a solid body. Thomas is right. You may consider moving Shell to the bottom after the pattern feature is created.

Many thanks!

Thanks Thomas

I had thought of performing that way as well but i was trying to minimize the number of steps. You have proved that the Shell in this example is maybe not the best way to use

Another thought: Could this type of Piping also be done with Tube'n'Pipe?

Thank you

Zac
