Hey Guys,

Please see the below video which clearly shows the error in File translation when a solidworks model is opened in both Inventor as well as Fusion 360 ...

Please have a look at the video and also I have attached the Solidworks file for your reference ..

Hi Aadithya,

This is a defect indeed, the shape is not generated correctly from shape kernel.

Forwarding to shape kernel team from now on.

Thank you again!

The SolidWorks file opens in SolidWorks indicating a missing reference.

Do you have access to the original *.sldprt file?

Missing Component.PNG

The STEP file opens in SolidWorks indicating errors in Import Diagnostics.

The part has a poorly defined face.

Hi @TheCADWhisperer

I remember that my customer had this original file like a Multi Body part (he was doing Core and cavity design) ... where one of the body, he derived it as a part and gave it to me .... Like Inventor Make Part and Make components option there is a similar feature in Solidworks I guess ....

I don't have Solidworks at my end...  Also the surface that you have indicated .... Is it showing it as a unhealthy surface ...

I called the customer but he didn't pick up the call. It is almost 6.30pm in India ... Surely by tomorrow I will go to his office and I will get you the original file.  .

The first node of the SolidWorks *.sldprt file indicates that this geometry was imported from some other source into SolidWorks.

I suspect the original geometry was poorly created - but without the source file I can only go by personal experience.

Based on my personal experience I would make a significant wager that the original geometry was poorly modeled.

The geometry is pretty simple - I would use this source geometry only as reference in properly modeling the part(s) from scratch.  (should take less than an hour of work)
