Exporting a simulated deflected shape as a STL file

Hello,

I am a new user of inventor and I can't find how to export a simulated deflected shape on Inventor to a STL file.

(I have a student licence so i don't know if it is just my licence which does not allow me to do this or if Inventor can't do the export at all...)

Thank you

Not sure if you can but you could try File > Export > CAD Format, then in the next window click the "Save as type:" drop down towards the bottom of that window and see if .stl file type is available.

Based on a quick test using Inventor Professional 2022, deformed geometry is not available for export.

If the FEA is run using Inventor Nastran, then there seem to be some 3rd party tools that can convert the Nastran results files to .stl.

See:

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/inventor-nastran-forum/non-linear-deformed-model-export/td-p/9459017

The only free converter that I found with a quick google search is https://pynastran-git.readthedocs.io/en/latest/index.html

A low cost converter is http://www.micromouse.ca/file_formats.html
