Export image background

Hi all, hope someone knows a solution to the following problem:

When trying to export an image of a model/part/assembly, the option to make the background transparent is greyed out... The file format does not seem to make any difference, same for JPEG, BMP and PNG. Whatever I do, I cant get it to become active. Is there something that might influence this, settings wise? 

Tried different environments, light settings, background color. Got nowhere...

Edit: Inventor 2022.3.1, occurs on any/every file.

What version of Inventor?  Can you share the file that is giving you trouble?  I just tried this on a simple file and had no trouble using IV 2023.1.

My bad, edited my post. I'm on 2022.3.1. Been having the issue with any and all files. Brand new as well as old ones.

Thank you for the test file, and version clarification.  Unfortunately, I'm still not able to reproduce it.  Maybe we need someone who can test it on the same version that you are using, to determine if it is version specific.  I'm not seeing anything in any settings that would affect this.

@johnsonshiue, do we have any way of testing this in the OP's version of Inventor?

Hi! It seems to work for me. I have Dark mode enabled on 2022.3.1. The attached image has a transparent background. Please take a snapshot of the Options dialog when exporting and post it here..

As always, when you decide to throw the towel into the ring and go to the forums the issue resolves itself... I'm at a loss, after the weekend it became available again. Had the PC rebooted multiple times before, so I cant figure out what changed. Before the weekend the checkmark at the bottom was not selected and the whole row was darkish/greyed out. No matter the file extension selected. 

I've had it reset itself a long time ago, but came back and stayed for weeks before posting here. (Resolved to image editor to remove the color for printing..) I'll keep an eye on it to see if it returns.

Well the issue is back already... see attached screenshot. Inventor has not been restarted since previous screenshot.

The fact that it comes and goes makes me want to believe that there is some external factor at play here.  Can you share the details of your system specs, especially the graphics part?  And, on that note, are all of your drivers up to date for any service packs or bug fixes?  

Any external applications, iLogic rules, or anything not "out of the box" running in your Inventor?

Hi! I believe the Transparent option is only offered when exporting an ipt, an iam, or an ipn file to an image. The option is disabled when exporting an idw/dwg to an image.

Thankyou very much for mentioning iLogic rules! Would not have expected that to be the cause of Inventor settings being disabled... Started running every commonly used macro/rule we got. Turns out that our DXF export macro triggers something with an iLogic rule that seems to be the culprit. After running it the options becomes gray again. 

Gonna have to dive in to the code to see what it triggers and whether there is a workaround. I do believe it switches something in the backgroundcolor/environment to get a contrast going, might be where it goes wrong.

I figured it out.

If you export image as "JPG" (maybe some other format also) via iLogic, it will "grey out" the "Transparent Background" option when trying to export manually via "Export - Image".

If you export again as "PNG" (either via iLogic or manually), the option "Transparent Background" becomes enabled again.

Issue is tracked by case number 24948137.
