Can Rhino solids be taken into Inventor?

The model doesnt need to be parametric, a dumb solid/surface will do, it's just for a reference point to build around.

The model I need to bring into Inventor is a 3dm file.

Thanks

I'm assuming Rhino will export to STL with it being mesh models?

You can bring it in to Inventor as a dumb block. Some editing capability can be used but it is very limited.

Hi! Inventor can import Rhino files (3dm) directly. There is no need to convert it to mesh.

Many thanks!

Hi,

I pulled the the 3dm file in and it created a .iam but it was empty. Have I missed a step?

Thanks

Are you on the most up to date Inventor? It's possible if your 3dm file is a newer version that your inventor install can support you might get a blank file or an error.

Post your file here if you are stuck.

No, attempted with 2019, shall try with 2022 and revert back.

Thanks!

Can you zip and attach example files here (*.3dm *.stp *.stl)?

Hi, not sure if you're still looking for an answer to this- but for me I had to import the Rhino after I opened the Rhino file. Your situation may be more complicated than this, but as a first time Inventor user this was what I had to do to merely see my Rhino geometry in the viewport.
