Executing Mass Properties takes so long during a Save

Does anyone know how to turn off the "EXECUTING MASS PROPERTIES" during the save process? I have a model with only 200 parts, some Imported Step files and most native IV i've modeled. When I try to save the master assembly or a drawing referencing it, it take for ever to the "EXECUTING MASS PROPERTIES" part before the SaveFileList dialog pops up and then again after, even though there only may be one file thats selected to save.  I can see this labeled in the bottom left of the IV screen while its thinking during the save process.

I thought there may a be a turned off prompt setting that's defaulted to update the mass properties but I couldn't find it in the prompts list. ...Another issue that list is really hard to read to find what you're looking for.

Any ideas?

thanks in advance

Take a look at the attached screen shot.  I think this will do it for you.  Remove the check in the box if you do not want the update.

I'm not at my desk but check in: Application Options>General, there should be a setting there.

Inventor 2020, In-Cad, Simulation Mechanical

Just insert the picture rather than attaching it as a file

Hi! As John and Blair indicated, the Application Option does automatically update the mass prop and save to the files. Another possibility is that you have an iLogic rule doing pretty much the same thing as the option.

The slowdown is more about saving more files than computing mass prop. When Inventor detects the geometry of a given part has been changed, it will invalidate the existing mass prop to N/A, meaning the mass needs to be computed. If "Update physical properties on save" options is checked, Inventor will compute the mass prop for all components on save.

This process is selective and exclusive. Only the components with N/A mass prop will be computed. The unchanged components are not affected and they are skipped for file saving.

In your case, I would expect the time to save takes a bit longer than usual when the dataset is just created. For example, you import a STEP assembly or you create an assembly from scratch. With the option on, the process of saving might take a bit longer. However, after the mass prop is updated and saved, any subsequent save should be very quick. If this is not the behavior you are seeing, there might be an issue. I will need to take a look at the files.

Many thanks!
