I get this error when importing Solidworks files: "This file is a newer version than Inventor can read.  Install the latest updates for your version of Inventor and try the operation again."

I am current on all the updates and still get this message.

Most likely files from latest version of SolidWorks that is released after Inventor.

You will have to wait for the next release of Inventor.

Meanwhile, I would request STEP or Parasolid (I think needs to be set to earlier version) from the source.

Hi!

The files are probably from the newest Solidworks version and they are not supported by Inventor, for now.

When Solidworks launch a new version, inventor developers have to work some time to give Inventor the ability to open the latest version files (for Solidworks or any other cad software).

Ask somebody that uses Solidworks to open the files and convert them to STEP format.
STEP is a neutral format that you should be able to open in Inventor.

Hi! The ability to import SWX 2023 files will be enabled on the coming Inventor 2023.3 update. Before that, Inventor can only import files save in SWX 2022 or older releases.

Many thanks!
