Engine blueprints/technical drawings

Hello

I am learning autocad and I am trying to find blue prints or technical drawings of a car engine with measurments so I can design it in autocad inventor I can not seem to find anything does anyone know where I could find something like this?

I would prefer a small 4 cylinder engine to do for the first time

Thank you

Tom

What program are you trying to learn?

I thought that we already established that Inventor is not AutoCAD?

I recommend that you start with an easier project.

I am using inventor I am trying to find drawings that I can then make into a 3d model so I need the drawings to have measurments on them

But as JD as indicated..  Why are you started with something so complex.  How long have you been using Inventor?  Are you new to it?  I've seen to many newbies try to model something so complex and fail at learning Inventor the proper way.  Start with the tutorials and go from there.

Edit:  In addition if someone does have a complete mechanical design of an engine, they probably will not share it here do to its intellectual property and the # of drawings/files.

Hi Tommyboy1986,

There are some links to some steam engine plans at this link:

http://inventortrenches.blogspot.com/2011/03/modeling-practice-drawings-for-inventor.html

You can also find some simple IC engine plans for free download at this link:

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,

You need to practice more.

An assembly without parts is useless.

You need to include *.ipt files to have an assembly.

Place the files (all of them) in a folder.

Right click on the folder name and select Send to Compressed (zipped) Folder.

Attach the resulting *.zip file here.

An iam file is worthless without also including all ipt files and any other subassembly iam files along with it..

An iam file just links to the associated parts and does not include them in itself..

And if you just Google "2d drawing" there are THOUSANDS of drawings/parts you can practice on..

Attach your assembly here for the experts to take a look and offer advice.

If all you are doing is creating "rubbish" - there is no point in creating more, you will probably benefit from constructive critique of your work.

Hi Tommyboy1986,

I don't have any other links to fully dimensioned assembly projects, but if you join one of the model engine hobby websites you can find plans for engines that have fully dimensioned 2D drawings for the entire engine assembly.

If you're open to projects other than engines, you can find a lot of fully dimensioned woodworking projects that can offer a challenge. Often a local library is a good source for wood working project books, or possibly metal working projects.

Popular Mechanics has some projects:

http://www.popularmechanics.com/build-these-now-plans/

https://www.google....popular+mechanics+project+plans

If you're just looking for more modeling challenges check these links out:

There are some challenging parts to model ad this link, just download the zip file and look for the PDF for each challenge:

http://www.design-excellence.com/worldcup/worldcupfiles.asp?offset=0

Grabcad challenges (use the finished challenges as practice, or try your hand at the active challenges):

https://grabcad.com/challenges/active

https://grabcad.com/challenges/finished

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,

Hi Tommyboy1986,

See the steps below from JDMather's earlier post. If those steps don't work, just post back with more details about what didn't work.

Note that there is an Attachments input/browse box when you apply to this forum (it's not avaliable if you use the Quick Reply button). This should be located below the area that you type your reply and sometimes is missed depending on screen resolution, etc.

I hope this helps.
Best of luck to you in all of your Inventor pursuits,
Curtis

There are multiple missing parts/assemblies when I tried to open that.
