embedded excel spreadsheets not supported on this platform ??

Hello everyone,

Yesterday I tried to open in Inventor part with an embedded excel sheet. Inventor give me this error:

embed_Error.png

So I tried creating a new part, and a new excel fille:

embed_excel.png

Then in the part, go to the parameters and embed the excel file in the part

embed_inventor.PNG

after choosing "Open", I get the Error....

I have both 2017 R2 and 2016 installed and they both give me the same error.

I reinstalled Inventor 2017: same result.

I'm working on Windows 10 with Excel 2013

I asked two colleagues, and they had the same thing.

On the internet I could not find this error....

so is this still working for everybody else?? or has some update broken something?

Accepted solution

After creating a case at Autodesk support, they came with this link:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor-products/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcartic...

In my case the variable UseLibXL was already created and had the value of 1.

after removing this variable and a restart, the embedding worked again..!!

(turning the 1 into 0 did not work, I had to remove it.)

Thanks to Hitoshi from Autodesk.

Hi all,

I'm experiencing the same error message with embedded excel files in Inventor 2016

I've recently created the variable UseLibXL in my system to fix an issue I was having with the thread feature spreadsheet.

(At the time Inventor froze for a few minutes every time I had to create a thread or inserted an iPart that had a thread feature. It was fixed with the creation of this variable).

Now I'm finding that this variable is causing me problems with embedded excel files on my .ipt.?

Is there a solution that allows me to keep both features working properly?

Thanks is advance

Jon
