Editing Autodesk DWFx files in Inventor

Hi all,

I've been using Autodesk Inventor 2017 to edit/revise drawings but these drawings come in as a Autodesk DWFx file that has several markups. I've come across some GUI related issues and these are mentioned below;

  • The markup is not highlighted on the drawing when it is selected on the markup browser in the left panel. Conversely I can't select the markups on the drawing to locate where it is on the markup browser.

  • The markup does not zoom into the page enough when the 'zoom to markup' option is selected.

  • It won't let me hide individual markups despite having the opting to hide markups as a whole.

For the time being I am using Autodesk Design Review on a separate screen to show specific markups on the markups panel but I won't be able to edit the drawing from this program. This process seems inconvenient as I have to switch between the programs with the same files open.

I was wondering if there is a way to get around these issues or if there is a more convenient way of revising DWFx drawings where the .IDW drawing is edited without compromising the markups.

Thanks.

Hi! I am not aware of a DWFx editor capable of editing anything other than markup. You will need to export it again when the source idw/dwg has changed. It sound like you have a need to have DWFx or a viewing file linked to idw/dwg. And, DWFx has to be in sync with the source idw/dwg file. Could you elaborate the need? Could you submit an idea to Inventor Ideas forum if it does not exist there?

Many thanks!

Hello, I take this approach where I edit the drawing through the DWFx markup file on Inventor so I can see the markups while I update the drawings. But because the markups don't sync with the updated drawing it can get really messy with the markups overlaying. It would be nice however to hide each markup when I don't need any use for it instead of hiding all of the markups. Thanks.
