I want to change Extrusion5 dimension. As you can in the browser it is (1.75+1.125). I want to make it (1.75 + 1.125 -0.425 ).

When I tried to do that I am getting an error message. How to solve this problem?

Look at the error message.

What does it say?

I guess on your part Sketch lines may be crossing each other. Go into the sketch and edit until the red cross disappears.

Can you attach your part?

SK

Your error is within the sketch of "Extrusion8". See for yourself! Think something went wrong

No, you have changed the problem.

Why did you change the problem?

That is not an image of the file that you attached here?

Why did you post image of sketch on other side of the part?

This is what I see in the file that you attached here.

Does this geometry use the BORN technique?

When I cut this hole I didn’t use origin plane as a reference. Therefore I didn’t use BORN technique.

I wish to know if you are not using BORN technique whether updating can cause problems.

Open the file you attached in Post #1 and see for yourself.

Of course, you do not really need to use the BORN Technique to model this part properly - but you have to think about how changes can effect the part whether you use the technique or not.

You made a rather significant change in Extrusion 5 without even considering making the corresponding change required in Sketch9.

I would have used the Origin planes for every sketch in this simple part.

It is only when parts become complex that I need to sketch anywhere other than an origin plane.

This geometry uses the BORN technique.

Actually the constraints and dimensions on sketch 9 are not like I would do it.

From this I can understand that update can’t be done at will all dependable features of the portion have to take into account.
