Easy way to delete a huge number of 3rd party references in an assembly?

Hi All

First ever Autodesk forums post so please let me know if I have done something wrong.

I have an extremely large assembly that I wish to pack and go, when I open the pack and go it complains about 3rd party references. This has been a problem for me before but I solved it by simply deleting the third party references from the offending parts.

The trouble is, this assembly contains hundreds of parts with third party references, and to delete them all manually would take hours, is there an easy way to delete these references on mass?

attachment shows the vault browser showing the unwanted and out of date thirst party references on a few files

any help would be appreciated, cheers!

(and yes, I shouldn't have gotten myself into this situation in the first place, lessons learnt)

First... Welcome!  Your first post looks good to me.  The only thing I might add, which is usually very helpful to the community, is to mention your software version and what your latest update level is.  Often mentioning something about your hardware may be helpful as well.

So!.... on this question, can you share a screen capture of the Inventor browser, at the top of the assembly?  Are the references listed up there anywhere?  If they're not all in one place where you can easily grab them, it may be that one of our ilogic experts could offer a suggestion using some code?

Hi Patrick,

I suspect you may need to use Design Assistant, if such workflow does not exist in Vault already.

Many thanks!

Hi There, thanks for the reply 🙂

Attached is a screenshot of the top of the browser for the master assembly, no references to 3rd parties here, and also a screenshot showing what i have been deleting from a few hundred parts.

It would be great if i could unlink these references en masse from the top level

I have not heard of the design assistant, I will look into that

So, based on these screen shots, I would say that the adice of @johnsonshiue is probably your best bet.  Good luck!
