Hello, i m new to dynamic simulation environment and i would like to ask something. I have 2 scotch yoke mechanisms and i adjust a torque to one cylinder. i want to know which diagrams i should take for the horizontal forces as seem on image1 i attach. Which cubes i should check to watch it?
thank you
Ok i really expect your answers in dynamic simulation. Yes my assembly has this offset you saw. Will it be a problem? maybe i should do it smaller. Tell me about the critical diameter you said.It is 52mm. What do you suggest to be the dimension of each part and a what a good tolerance?
I just installed Service pack 2 but i don t know what is its function.
Attached is my assembly.
You will see a bit of "noise" as the cylinder changes pushing side from one side of the slot to the other side.
There must be some amount of clearance for the assembly to work without binding in the real world.
If you haven't used 2D Contact Joints before - it might be confusing how they work.
These two blocks only move in one plane - so it make sense to use 2D Contact Joints which are easier to calculate, and in this case there is only a single point of tangent contact at any time in each of the 2 contact joints.
I used simple 2D sketch loops to define the boundaries of contact. Think of these loops as surface bodies extruded to infinity in both directions. Any time the loops come in contact that contact will be recognized by Inventor Dynamic Simulation. Often, you don't need to create the 2D sketches - you can simply select face loops on the part.
There is sound with these Screencasts - so turn on your audio.
I forgot to mention in the video that once the Contact Joint is established you can turn off the Visibility of the sketches or surfaces.
Ok i think i understood why you use 2d contact.
My doubt is about the result. The horizontal force you showed is as i expected it in a sinusoidal form (with that "noise") but it seems to be very small.(max 0.38N) with a torque of 10000Nmm.
I don t know if this is the force i am looking for...
i was excepting something like T= F x R (r= distance from the center of cylinder(tangent to the slot) to axis z of my assembly=50mm)
Is that the force i ask for?
Thank you
I did not take the time to verify output results.
If I get a chance I will take a look at the mechanism in more detail - I suspect I will be using the Unknown Force tool to get the information you are after.
Hello jdmather,
i would like to see how you use the unknown force tool.
i would like you to suggest me a good tutorial book for dynamic simulation.
i wonder if i could send to you private messages..
Thank you
You will need to create a Workpoint for reference.
I will try to get back to this later (have to run now).
Keep bumping if I don't.
Search Amazon.com for the Wasim Younis book (the only book there is).
